3.17
This update is full of shot-base play improvements as we draw closer to providing you with Strokes Gained statistics in an upcoming update. Read about all of the changes in this new app version below.
New features:
-
Shot-based play mode: Putt distances can now be recorded with each of your putts.
-
New in your profile: You can define a custom walking step length that will be used for calculating approximate putt distances quickly by counting how many steps are between your ball and the hole. Or you may allow the app to read Walking Step Length from the Health App which allows the app to always use the most accurate length. Or you may let the app read your height and gender and calculate a walking step length for you.
-
New play performance charts: various “proximity to the hole” distance bands, including out of the sand and first putt distances.
-
New play performance charts: hole gross averages for each par value (pars 3, 4 and 5). If you want to retroactively generate values from previous rounds, go into the Support > Diagnostics view and run "Play Performance".
-
Individual practice insights charts can now be pinned to the Practice tab.
-
Individual play performance charts can now be pinned to the Play tab.
Notable improvements and fixes:
-
iPhone: Equipment has been promoted to a dedicated tab and is no longer located in the membership menu.
-
Shot-based play mode: Shots can be indicated as being “partial swings” so that they are not considered for realized distance analysis for that shot using that club. Use this for chips, punch cuts, or whatever kind of shot that you know won’t be the full yardage of the club. This setting will not prohibit the shot from categorizing “proximity to the hole” statistics.
-
Shot-based play mode: Shots can be indicated as being a "recovery shot". This is a requirement for supporting Strokes Gained statistics in an upcoming version.
-
Shot-based play mode: The second shot on par 3s and 4s is where you now specify if the fairway was hit or not in shot-based modes.
-
Shot-based play mode: Whether you hit in the fairway, sand or rough is automatically detected now. If not in the fairway, the direction miss is also automatically detected.
-
Shot-based play mode: Automatically detected shot characteristics are colored in orange to bring them to your attention to help you visually confirm their accuracy.
-
Shot-based play mode: When selecting "Next Shot" or "Finish Hole", additional options are presented just in case you forgot to input putt distance, know that the next shot will be a putt (which automatically selects your putter on the next shot), and other helpful choices.
-
Clubs have been given their own unique color (starting in version 3.16) but you can now specify your own custom color for them. This color is used in charts throughout the app.
-
Fixed an issue that prevented current grip wear to initially show on the clubs within your bags.
-
In all play modes (including Golf Cart mode), you can now quickly access your bag’s yardage card and wedge matrix.
We have also performed minor usability improvements, general maintenance and various bug fixes.

-
Fix: Retired clubs can no longer be edited.
